{"id":611,"date":"2004-06-02T11:00:12","date_gmt":"2004-06-02T03:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yuleshow.com\/?p=611"},"modified":"2004-06-02T11:00:12","modified_gmt":"2004-06-02T03:00:12","slug":"sars_and_fever_experience_thailand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yuleshow.com\/?p=611","title":{"rendered":"SARS and fever experience, Thailand"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"english-h1\">SARS and fever<\/h1>\n<p class=\"english\">SARS, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, was a risky at the period of March<br \/>\nto June 2003.&nbsp; The entire world was watching the disease; most countries<br \/>\nreported the situation every hour, every day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">Singapore was the effective area<br \/>\nwhen I was there, but I didn&#8217;t care a lot.&nbsp; I still went out for dinner<br \/>\neven at the roadside food bar.&nbsp; I didn&#8217;t wear any mask on the plane even<br \/>\na lot of person wore mask once they entered airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">I didn&#8217;t feel afraid of SARS until I arrived at Bangkok Airport.&nbsp; There<br \/>\nwere two lines for testing travelers&#8217; temperature at the airport.&nbsp; A<br \/>\nnurse put a piece of plastic, which is a heat sensitive thermometer, on my<br \/>\nforehead.&nbsp; After a while, she said thirty eight.&nbsp; She wrote down<br \/>\nthe temperature and give me the paper, let me follow the queue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">I was asked to stand aside wait for further examination.&nbsp; Another nurse<br \/>\nbrought out a glass thermometer and tested my armpit temperature.&nbsp; It<br \/>\nwas still 38?Celsius.&nbsp; A clerk came and led me to a temporary emergency<br \/>\ncenter.&nbsp; He let me sit outside the emergency center and took my passport<br \/>\naway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">The person who had my passport disappeared.&nbsp; Two doctors went out, and<br \/>\nbrought me out of the hall back to the landing area.&nbsp; There were two<br \/>\nx-ray cars.&nbsp; I had x-ray test and was brought back to the emergency room<br \/>\nagain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">No one took care of me.&nbsp; I started feeling scary.&nbsp; What would happen<br \/>\nif I did have SARS?&nbsp; Fortunately, I didn&#8217;t know SARS indeed that time.&nbsp;<br \/>\nI just thought it was a serious cough.&nbsp; I even didn&#8217;t remember the SARS<br \/>\nwould cause death.&nbsp; What was I thinking is that I will miss the chance<br \/>\nto watch the New Year festival in Bangkok and I would miss Lara and Sam a<br \/>\nlot if I have to be isolated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">There was a girl sit in front of me.&nbsp; She also was caught by the high<br \/>\nfever.&nbsp; She said she is a student come to Bangkok for university but<br \/>\nshe couldn&#8217;t speak English well.&nbsp; There was a doctor talking with her,<br \/>\nthe doctor spook in Chinese.&nbsp; The girl said she come from North East<br \/>\nChina.&nbsp; She wore coat and sweater; she said the heavy clothes caused<br \/>\nthe high temperature.&nbsp; The doctor wrote down her contact information<br \/>\nand let she leave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">I was the last one.&nbsp; I felt scarier and no one wants to talk with me.&nbsp;<br \/>\nI asked that doctor is that alcoholic will cause high temperature.&nbsp; He<br \/>\nsaid maybe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">Eventually, they returned my passport to me and told me I got a normal fever.&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe first thing I did when I reached the central Bangkok was that I brought<br \/>\ntwo thermometers, one plastic and another glass.&nbsp; I tested my temperature<br \/>\nevery hour until I went back to Shanghai.&nbsp; The temperature was always<br \/>\nbelow 36.5 ?Celsius.<\/p>\n<p class=\"english\">Related links:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.who.int\/csr\/sars\/sarsfaq\/en\/\" target=\"new\" rel=\"noopener\">SARS FAQ, World Health Organization<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SARS and fever SARS, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, was a risky at the period of March to June 2003.&nbsp; The entire world was watching the disease; most countries reported the situation every hour, every day.
