A complain story, Unicom CDMA cell phone

Last Saturday, October 10, 2003, I found my CDMA cell phone had little problem that I only can receive 5 calls of every 10 calling. I called 1001 which is the Unicom service hotline. The lady who answered the phone said it was my cell phone or SIM card problem; she let me take the phone to Tian Mu Xi Road and have a check there. I asked the lady how about the check result is good for the cell phone and SIM card. I think they should pay me the transportation if the cell phone and SIM card have nothing wrong, because it indicates that the network has problem. The lady was rude and unknowledgeable, so even didn’t know how to explain the reason why she refused me.

So I called the complain center. I complained the calling out ID disabling function which is the key function of Unicom CDMA. I registered the CDMA for three years, every month RMB 278 and plus calling ID showing and calling out ID disabling for RMB 25. So every month I have to pay RMB 303 ($36) even I do not make any call like the month I was in USA or other countries. The problem is that the calling out ID disabling doesn’t work at all. My desk phone can show the calling in ID of the phone call made by my CDMA cell phone and the beeper services can see my phone number also. The other cell phone users will receive a message shows the calling in ID if they won’t answer my call or they can know my phone number directly if they receive a message from me. What a mess.

The lady from complain center was much better than the lady of service hotline. But even that, she can’t persuade me that to continually use the package for the rest two years. I didn’t say I want to quit the contract but I pointed that the Unicom used a faked advertisement to grab more users as much as they can. She said the calling out ID disabling function is only an immature function. I refused such issue; a function can’t be sold and advertised as a key function if it was still under developing.
Unicom contacted me and talked with me several times. Eventually they said they will provide me free calling out ID disabling function. I refused that and I do want to quit the contract. Otherwise which I can accept is that to stop the contract and reactive the contract once they can do provide real function.
